Malaysia

Malaysia is a country in the southeast of Asia. It consists of two separate parts divided by the South China Sea: Peninsular Malaysia on the Malay Peninsula, bordered to
the north by Thailand and to the south by Singapore; and East Malaysia, the northern part of the island of Borneo, bordered to the south by Indonesia and completely surrounds the tiny enclave of Brunei to the north. Malaysia is one of the founding members of ASEAN.

The People
Malaysia’s population is now about 25 million. The people of Malaysia come from a number of different ethnic groups mainly – Malays, Chinese, Indians, with the indigenous Eurasians and the indigenous Orang Asli of the peninsula and the various tribes of Sabah and Sarawak making up the remaining population. Approximately 85% of the population lives in Peninsular Malaysia and the remaining 15% in Sabah and Sarawak.

Ringgit

The ringgit, unofficially known as the Malaysian dollar, divided into 100 sen or cents, is the monetary unit of Malaysia (currency code MYR). The Brunei dollar is also called the ringgit in Malay. The word ringgit means "jagged" in Malay, and was originally used to refer to the serrated edges of Spanish silver dollars widely circulated in the area.
